Abstract

This studi aims to determine the content of cellulose, hemisellulose and lignin in corn straw components (stem, leaves, cobs and husks). The reseach was carried out from March 21 to May 8 2023. Sampels of corn straw were taken in Labuapi District, West Lombok Regency, whilw the analysisof the fiber component content was carried out at the Laboratory of Nutrion and Animal Feed Sciences, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, University of Mataram. The observed variables consisted of cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin. The data obtained was then calculated using the Microsoft Excel program and discussed descriptively. The results showed that the cellulose content of corn straw components (stem, leaves, cobs and husks) was 32,58%, 24,16%, 23,20% and33,45%. The hemisellulose content of corn straw components (stem, leaves, cobs and husks) was 33,03%, 29,62%, 38,07% and 35,15% and the lignin content of corn straw components (stem, leaves, cobs and husks) were 10,58%, 7,30%, 13,48% and 5,62%. The lowest lignin content is found in the husk and leaves which range from 5-7% of the dry weight of corn straw, lignin content is not expected in animal feed because it can reducethe level of digestibility. The husk and leaves of corn straw have the opportunity to be used as a source of animal feed because they contain low.
