Abstract

Gili Meno is one of the three small islands off the coast of Lombok, alongside Gili Trawangan and Gili Air. It has long been recognized as a prominent marine tourism destination, offering a variety of attractive natural attractions. The island also features a saline lake surrounded by mangrove forests, which provide habitat for diverse wildlife, including numerous spider species. This study aimed to determine the abundance and diversity of spiders in the Gili Meno Lake area, North Lombok, in 2018. Sampling was conducted within the mangrove ecosystem along the shoreline of Gili Meno Lake, North Lombok Regency. Spider specimens were collected using the sweeping net method. A total of 13 sampling plots were established, with a distance of 5 meters between adjacent plots. During the study, a total of 122 individual spiders were collected, representing 34 species, 26 genera, and 13 families. The recorded families included Araneidae, Agelenidae, Dysderidae, Eutichuridae, Gnaphosidae, Linyphiidae, Lycosidae, Oxyopidae, Pisauridae, Salticidae, Segestriidae, Tetragnathidae, and Trachelidae. The spider diversity index (H′), calculated using the Shannon–Wiener diversity index, was 3.90, indicating that spider diversity in the mangrove area surrounding Gili Meno Lake was classified as high. Meanwhile, the species evenness index (E′), calculated using the Evenness formula, was 0.82, suggesting that the distribution of spider species in the lakeside mangrove habitat was relatively even and in a stable ecological condition.
